A traditional event for a local church will bring close to 200 people to Highway 264 East, which is the reason the Highway Patrol is asking drivers to be cautious.

The Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Washington will hold its annual Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe pilgrimage. Father Arturo Cabra says an estimated 200 people will walk Tuesday night at 6pm on Highway 264 East starting from the Poorman’s Flea Market to their church on West 9th Street.

They expect children and adults to participant so Highway Patrol Troopers urge drivers to slow down in that area.

There will be DOT signs alerting drivers of the pilgrimage and there will be troopers escorting members during the 10 mile event.
