Too Much Rain Bad for Crops

Farmers depend on rain early in the growing season, but when too much rain falls during the harvest, that's when a lot of problems seem to grow. Monday's rainfall is keeping all types of farm picking machinery out of the fields. Cotton and soybean farmers must now wait for their crops to dry up a bit before they can be picked. This delay in picking will cause the harvest season to stretch out a bit, possibly damaging the crops. Pitt County Agriculture Extension Agent Phillip Rowan says this will have very little effect on prices.
