Monday night, Pitt Community College held the "Lights of Knowledge" tree lighting ceremony on campus. A tree, donated in 1998 by a man who lost his wife and graduate of PCC Nursing School, was lit with close to 2500 lights. Some of the lights were purchased by members in the community to honor special family members and friends. Others were bought in memory of people who have died. The star on top of the tree this year was in remembrance of Bruce Steinbach, a former faculty member at the college, who passed away earlier this year. The lights are just $5 a piece and the monies raised will go to the PCC library for new books and materials for students. If you would like to buy a light, you have until December 16.
