Pitt County Sheriff's officials say a man was shot early Sunday morning, and now the Pitt County Sheriff's deputy who fired the shots is on administrative leave while the SBI handles the investigation.
Deputies say it happened around 1 a.m. behind the Farmville Community Center. Farmville Police called the Pitt County Sheriff's department for assistance with the would-be victim. Its unclear what happened, but deputies say the man was shot by the deputy, and the injuries are not life threatening.
