As Greenville and its neighboring cities grow, so does the area's homeless population, many of whom live in the Greenville Community Homeless Shelter.
That's why folks were out bowling for dollars Sunday at the AMF Lanes in Greenville. Organizers were trying to raise awareness and also 10,000 dollars to help with the shelters operating expenses, and they say this is when the shelter needs it the most. Organizers say the shelter is already almost at capacity, and the coldest part of the winter isn't even here yet. The shelter is hoping to start up a permanent housing option for people with disabilities.
Prizes were on hand for the participants, and of course, the shelter is always accepting monetary donations, or even canned goods and toiletries. You can also offer up your time and help volunteer as well.
