The race for one of 5 Bethel town commissioner seats is officially over in Pitt County.
The race for municipal election seats in Pitt County continued from November 8th until last week when Nelson Worsley, one of nine candidates, demanded a recount of the final election numbers. Tuesday's canvass revealed that Worsley was within 13 votes -- less than one percent -- therefore making him eligible for a recount. Worsley made a second attempt at victory requesting the recount, but the that thirteen point loss was confirmed. State statute allows a request from a candidate whose results are one percent or less in difference.
