The CSS Neuse ironclad in Kinston usually draws history buffs and curious locals to view the sturdy ship used by confederate forces during the Civil War.
This weekend the realization of war was felt and heard not only at the site of the ironclad in Kinston, but around the entire city. Over 100 re-enactors are displaying their artillery skills and demonstrating various dimensions of naval life during the Civil War. Eight cannons will also be on display until Sunday. If you're unable to catch the excitement this weekend, CSS Neuse ship tours are available by appointment during the week.
