Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration are still trying to determine why a small plane was ditched into the Neuse River in New Bern Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say the plane is still underwater and will remain there until at least Friday. The pilot, Kent Larson, was able to get out of the sinking plane and swim to a wooden pylon where he was picked up.
Tim Harvey with the Craven County Emergency Management office says boaters need to pay close attention when passing through the area. Lawson was treated at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
