One family concerned about the effects of the smoke from the wildfire has decided it's time to evacuate Hyde County.
North Carolina Forest Service Spokesperson Hannah Thompson says there is no mandatory evacuation orders in Hyde County as of right now, but that has not stopped the Credle family from packing up and leaving town. They say the intense smoke-filled air has just become too overwhelming and dangerous.
Susie Credle says her 12 year-old son Jacob has asthma, and it's not good for him to keep breathing the smoke-filled air.
The Credles plan to return to their home next week, hoping the blaze will be better controlled by that time.

Well I've got to get my $00.02 in. Mrs Susie was leaving on our planned ,(since early Feb) vacation. Jacob had some asthma symptoms when he was about 2 years old. Talk about getting a story out of wack. loading the rods reels Etc should have been a clue. WITN please check your story line next time. PS I didn't get to go on vacation because I'm tied up in something bigger.

Good thing to do is leave. I am sure these sort of fumes aren't healthy at all for asmatic patients. Call me crazy but I like the smell of burning wood, leaves and brush. I have been smelling this fire for over a week now here in Dare County and it doesn't bother me as much as it does everyone else because I like the smell of it. I know its not something to be joyeous about, talking about this fire but I am talking about the smell ONLY! I remember in the 80's, spending a weekend cutting grass, trimming hedges, racking the yard, then piling it all up in a nice pile and burning it. Oh the smell used to fill my entire neighborhood and it smelled great! Now it all contains so many pesticides and other MAN MADE chemicals, enough to choke a horse! I wish it all could go back to the way it used to be like in the 80's. When we didn't have half the garbage to worry about like we do now! Times have certainly changed over the years and from what I see, most of it for the worst.

Good idea, Susie. I would do the same. It can't be healthy breathing in all of those fumes from the fire.
