It's a bright spot for several coastal counties turned down for money from FEMA. Another federal agency is stepping in to help.
Earlier this week, it was announced the Small Business Administration will be accepting applications for loans to help residents repair home and property damage caused by Hurricane Ophelia in these counties: Carteret, Craven, Pamlico, Jones and Onslow.
Officials with the S.B.A. say loan approval is based primarily on income and personal debt. The S.B.A. disaster site is at the old Beaufort Elementary School in Carteret County, open Monday through Saturday.
