95-Year-Old Man Still Making A Difference

He's been a volunteer at election polls in Pitt County since 1977 and even at the tender young age of 95, Matthew Lewis of Greenville isn't about to stop doing his public service. Lewis will working Tuesday on Election Day, helping those who will stop in to vote at the Veterans of Foreign Wars' building on Mumford Road. Lewis says ever since an old friend asked him to help out with the 1977 elections, he's been back to make sure voters have an easy time voting. Besides volunteering at the polls, Lewis is still very active in the community. He serves on boards for various community organizations.
