Highway Trooper Gets More Than He Bargained For

A trooper with the State Highway Patrol got more than he expected while assisting with an accident in Beaufort County Tuesday morning. Trooper Daniel Cahoon was working a car accident on Core Point Road when authorities say another car sped past the scene. The State Highway Patrol said the trooper then called for assistance and began chasing the speeder. The chase ended on Keys Road but not before Cahoon chased the driver on foot and fought him down using pepper spray. Authorities say the man arrested was Beaufort County resident Donald Moore. They say he had cocaine in his possession and has been charged with felony drug charges, assault on an officer and numerous driving charges.
