Was it a hate crime or cruel joke? Numerous highway signs in Washington County were littered with graffiti depicting different types of hate symbols. Many of the signs that were painted were at or near the intersection of Highway 32 and 308 near Roper. The Department of Transportation says there are reports of damaged signs on Highway 94 as well. The sheriff's department says it needs residents’ help to solve the case. Residents we spoke with think this is more of a joke then a hate crime and they're not too worried about it, but say they will keep their eyes open for suspicious activity.
