A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
It can be very harmful for your health. That’s why free screenings for lead exposure will take place for Lenoir County children this week. Lead Poisoning and Prevention Week runs Sunday through October 29th. As part of that, Lenoir County Health Department officials will screen children ages one to six from 8 a.m. until noon, and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, October 23rd. No health advisories have been issued there. However, over in Greenville, two children were diagnosed earlier this year with elevated levels of lead.
