The summer tourism season on the Crystal Coast is officially over, but the work of promoting the region continues. Now school students are getting in on the project. Fourth and eighth grade students, as well as high school students in the county, are participating in an art contest depicting what Carteret County offers for tourism. Carteret County Tourism Development Authority's Carol Lohr says this contest is important to the local tourism economy. Winners of the art contest will not only win $50 for themselves, but also $100 worth of art supplies for their teachers.
