A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties through 4am Friday. Rain and light sleet continues to fall through the area. Temperatures are still about freezing.
The East Carolina baseball team is going to bat for a good cause. Members of the team have been at the Colonial Mall collecting money for hurricane relief efforts. The money collected will go to the Conference USA Relief Fund, and proceeds will be distributed to folks most affected by both hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Members of the team have been pulling two shifts every day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. They will keep that same schedule until Thursday night. To top it off, the team is playing 100 innings of baseball Friday night beginning at 6 p.m. to raise money. Admission is free. The rain date for that game is Sunday at 9 a.m.
