Transportation Specialist Kevin McCray Jones of Washington died September 22nd while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Saturday he was laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery here at home.
The 21 year old Washington native not only served in the armed forces he was a certified emergency medical technician, and volunteered with the Old Ford Fire Department. Jones was killed last Thursday when a bomb exploded under his vehicle near the city of Al Taqaddum. Jones was part of the 181st Transportation Battallion, 7th Corps Support Group, and 3rd Corps Support Command in Mannheim, Germany.
Kevin leaves behind, both parents, two siblings and countless other loved ones. He earned a purple heart, and a second purple heart and bronze star will be awarded after his death.
