Coast Guard Cutter Ready to Tour

One of the things people will be able to do this weekend at the North Carolina Seafood Festival is tour the US Coast Guard Cutter Elm, at the state port. Friday we got on board for a sneak preview.

The Coast Guard Cutter Elm is 225 feet long, and it was commissioned in 1997. It's main job is to help maintain buoys up and down the Eastern US coast. If your interested in seeing the Elm up close, tours will be from 10 to 4 Saturday and 11 to 4 on Sunday. The Coast Guard says their ready for any question you may have about the boat.

The Coast Guard says even though thousands of people will be touring the boat, a certain level of national security will be in affect. You may have your bags searched before boarding the boat.
