New information about a suspended New Bern High School teacher and girls basketball coach who is charged with assaulting two female students.

Philip Beeson, 53 years-old of Bridgeton, came to New Bern after resigning from East Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem.

East Forsyth school officials say Beeson was suspended prior to resigning after an investigation revealed he knew about another teacher who had videotaped himself having sex with two female students and showed the tape to others.

School officials said Beeson was not criminally charged in connection with that case.

Beeson's next court appearance is scheduled for May 16.

Its hard to say if he did it or not, but the fact that he was involved in something of similar nature at another high school makes things pretty damning from this point of view. People are accused all the time of crimes they didnt comitt, especially crimes of a sexual nature by people who are upset or angry with the acussed. I would like to think that someone in his position would not "assault" female students, but all to often it happens. You can think you know a person inside and out, but until you are actually in their head and walk in their shoes, you have no idea who someone really is.

I am just shocked..He was a teacher of mine when I was in school..I never new or imagined that such a thing would ever happen..I'm not going to be judgemental because until there is proven facts..he is technically "not guily" under the court of law..

It is easy to sit back and judge others especially when you don't have all of the facts. Do you know for a fact that he did what they said he did ? Were you there when he supposedly did it? Did you see it? Then you don't know that it is true, do you. You are goind on hearsay of others. How would you feel if a friend of yours were wrongly accused? You should not judge lest ye be judged! As for athletics at NBHS, I am so glad that you have a good, complete picture of the sports program here. There you go judging again. Know your facts before you speak! You can't please all of the people all of the time. Some days you can't please any people, You must be some of those people.

If the teacher is not charged or is found "not guilty" s/he just moves on to another school A background check will not show anything. It is the responsibility of Human Resources in the school the perverted criminal leaves and the school he's applies to, to talk to one another. Make a law to force school districts to be thorough in investigating and then STICK TO IT. We had a teacher here who was high on the Pervert Scale--he's now going to another high school in another state. Human Resources, School Boards, Local Officials>>>think: Why is this highly qualified person coming to my remote, low-paying school? And be vigilant

Probably as long as his "team" was winning they didnt care what he did. That seems to be how it works at New Bern HS. The teams are everything. I agree he should never be allowed around kids again and should have to give up his retirement to the people he has hurt.

I am a teacher and have 2 teenage girls. What is wrong with our school systems not doing background checks? He needs to never be around youth again....and punished. Resigning...some good it did the last time. Give his retirement to the victims.
