Governor Mike Easley ordered a mandatory evacuation of visitors from Ocracoke Island Sunday because of the threat of Hurricane Ophelia. It's an early evacuation and a lesson learned from last year, when Hurricane Alex blew through and visitors were either stuck or got out at the last minute... With hundreds of vehicles left behind and ruined. Easley also ordered 200 National Guard troops to go to staging areas in the East to get ready for the storm after declaring a state of emergency.
