Father Speaks Out About Son

As we continue to follow the case against the two Bethel police officers charged with drug trafficking and one firearms charge, WITN caught up with the father of one of the accused. Cleveland Cox is speaking out about the allegations facing his son, Bethel police Lieutenant Jerome Cox. Jerome, who is 31, is facing federal charges of drug trafficking, as is the Bethel police chief. The chief is also facing a firearms charge. Cleveland doesn't understand why the two were suspended without pay, a decision made by Bethel town officials Thursday night. He says that's like they've been convicted before being tried. If Cox and Roberts are found guilty, they could face anywhere from five to 50 years in prison with a fine of $2 million. Roberts could get an additional 10 years if convicted on the gun offense.
