Volunteer Heads South

Video will be available shortly.

A Jacksonville woman's fight through red tape to help Katrina's victims now has her knee-deep in the water in New Orleans, as a volunteer medic.

Sherri Gable's odyssey began with a phone call from Louisiana last week. Her name was on a national register of medics, available to help in disasters. But when Gable tried to coordinate supplies and a way to get to the flood zone, that's when she ran into conflicting signals that some say has slowed the response to help victims.

Gable and her sister did leave Jacksonville Friday anyway and now are hard at work helping the victims in New Orleans.
