Greenville Enters Can Contest

The city of Greenville is participating in the "Cans For Cash" City Recycling Challenge presented by the United States Conference of Mayors and Alcan corporation.

Cities compete with other similar-sized cities from around the country to see whose citizens can collect the most aluminum cans.

The winning city receives a $5,000 grant for its recycling program. The contest began Thursday and runs until September 16. Cans can be dropped off at the public works building located at 1500 Beatty Street in Greenville between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
