A Lot of People Stayed Home This Labor Day Weekend

Video will be available shortly.

Labor Day is unofficially known as the last day of summer vacation.

Thousands of beachgoers still flocked to Atlantic Beach over the holiday weekend to soak up the sun, but the rise in the price of gasoline kept many more home. The Crystal Coast did have some of the cheapest gas in our area with prices averaging around $2.91 for a gallon of regular gasoline.

One family we talked to says they wouldn’t let the price of gas keep them from coming to the beach, but it changed their plans just a bit. They told us instead of exploring the area, they were just going to hang out on the beach.

Crystal Coast officials will soon get to see just how much business was lost due to the rise in gas prices.
