Two Children Die in Fire

A Havelock family is grieving the loss of two children, while their other two children are fighting for their lives.

Around 7:30 Sunday night in Havelock, a fire broke out at the Pineville Apartments off Brown Boulevard. Havelock fire officials say two four-year-olds died in the fire, but a three-year-old and 15-month-old were saved.

The parents were able to save one of their children, while firefighters rescued the other. Nobody could get to the other toddlers in time. The children who survived are at Duke Hospital in stable condition.

The S.B.I. is assisting in this investigation. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
