Gas Prices Could Increase Accidents

Video will be available shortly.

The after effects of Hurricane Katrina have stifled a lot of travel plans for those planning to hit highways and major thoroughfares, but lawmen say that means more traffic will be on roadways in inner cities and counties as would-be travelers stay close to home. That's bad news according to lawmen who say the surging gas prices in the wake of Hurricane Katrina combined with regular holiday traffic could multiply collision statistics this weekend.

Lawmen say they will increase patrols on local roadways across the state.
