A child poisoned to death by insecticide. Now, Onslow County officials face a lawsuit over the death.
Guardian Carolyn Ann Futrell was caring for seven-year-old Kayla Allen when she died. Futrell has pleaded not guilty to murder and felony abuse in Allen's death.
The young girl's aunt has filed a lawsuit against Onslow County officials saying workers were negligent for not preventing the child's death, alleging the department of social services was alerted at least six times that Kayla might have been abused while she was living with Futrell.
