Video: It Works... It Doesn't Work!
Officials with the Pitt County Health Department say for the past two months, they've been battling an air conditioning system that keeps malfunctioning. Mike Rogers, head of the maintenance department for Pitt County, says it all started when the health department's air conditioning stopped working in early July. Rogers says a replacement unit was brought in but that was damaged by a lighting strike. Then according to Rogers, another unit was brought in and now it has valve problems. Health officials say while the conditions inside the health department are uncomfortable, the heat does not pose a health threat to workers or patients. Repair work is scheduled for Wednesday evening and maintenance officials expect to have the problem fixed soon.
