Divide and conquer used to be their policy, but now six counties against an outlying landing field in Eastern North Carolina have joined forces. At a press conference Monday at the Washington County courthouse in Plymouth, representatives from the six counties being considered for the potential O.L.F. site, gathered to show their unification towards a common goal. That goal is to protect what they see as private property against the Navy. Political leaders and county officials from several of the six counties, Washington, Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrell and Bertie were also present.
