Folks in Onslow County got a lot of laughs, and an impressive display of softball skills Saturday evening, as "The King and His Court" came to town.
Its the first visit to Jacksonville by this traveling softball show since 1964, and in his 60th season on the road, the king, Eddie Feigner, the queen, Anne Marie, and his court wowed the crowd! Pitcher Rich Hoppe also fanned most of the local all-stars, even our Country Rover Alan Covey, who watched three blazing pitches zoom past him in spite of his plea for divine intervention. But, its the fun after the game that has kept the king and queen on the road for 6 decades.
Saturday night's event was to support Southwest's booster club. You will see more of "The King and His Court" on an up-coming "Country Rover" with Alan, Friday night's at 6 p.m. here on WITN.
