It was another horribly hot day on Sunday across Eastern Carolina, which can be tough on everyone, but especially tough for lifeguards.
When its hot, not only do more people head out to the pools, but there's also a risk for those sunbathing, and lounging by the water. Lifeguards have to keep an eye on the swimmers, but on days like Sunday, they also look those lying around the pools, checking for excessive sweating, and people who look faint or dizzy. On breaks lifeguards at Gold's Gym will actually go up to patrons and see if they need anything to drink to keep hydrated. They also recommend frequent trips to the snackbar for drinks, and of course frequent trips to the water to cool off.
