Unemployment Up in July

Bad news on the employment front, the unemployment rate in our state grew to 5.7 percent in July hitting its highest rate in more than a year.

Officials blame the increase on a growing labor force. The number of workers in the state last month jumped by more than 14,000, but the pool of workers increased by more than 30,000.
