How would you like access to wireless broadband for $25 a month? The 14,000 residents of Washington County now have just that. The program was unveiled in a ceremony in Roper Thursday. It's part of an effort to provide remote, rural communities in our state with access to affordable high speed internet. Before Thursday, many in Washington County did not have that. Lieutenant Beverly Perdue was on hand for the deployment. Washington County and the North Carolina Community Development Initiative partnered with the Windows on the World Electronic Community Development Corporation and the town of Roper to make this possible.
