Families Displaced From Flooding

Bridge and Fifth Streets in Washington

Some Washington residents are without a home following this weekend's flooding. In the Hertiage Point subdivision torrential rains
flooded many homes in the area, displacing at least twelve families. Monday the cleanup process began as many residents moved their personal belongings and furniture out of their water logged homes. Now they are looking to the American Red Cross for help. The Red Cross in Beaufort County says the Federal Emergency Managment Agency stated they would not help victims -- because the flooding was not declared a federal emergency.
