A terrifying scene Tuesday as an Amtrak passenger train hits a dump truck killing the two people in the truck. It happened in Raleigh around 12:30 Tuesday as a train was headed Northbound from Charlotte to New York. There were no serious injuries among the 180 passengers and crew on the train, though at least four people were taken to a hospital for treatment. North Carolina police say it appears the driver of the dump truck drove around a lowered crossing gate before being hit by an Amtrak train. The impact of the collision caused the train's engine and four of its seven cars to derail.
