Bodysurfing Leads to Serious Injuries

Video will be available shortly.

There is a sport that's gaining in popularity once again at the beach, but it's also sending people to the emergency room to be treated for serious injuries. It's called bodysurfing. Last month alone, a doctor in Wilmington treated body surfers who are now paralyzed after hitting their head and breaking their necks. Body surfing involves catching a wave and riding it to the shore without the use of a board. A doctor we talked to at Atlantic Beach says he too has been treating people injured from bodysurfing, including a woman in her 70s
