Thousands Expected for Fountain Races

Video will be available shortly.

Fast boats and lots of cash. Economic development officials in Beaufort County say this weekend's Fountain Powerboats race will have a major economic impact on the area. Beginning Friday evening some of the fastest boats in the world and crew members will thunder into Beaufort County by the thousands for the Fountain Super Boat International Grand Prix. Event organizers expect over 60 boats to participate in the races, while Beaufort County economic development director Tom Thompson estimates the three-day event will bring over 100,000 visitors to the area pumping a considerable amount of money into area hotels, restaurants and shops.
