It's doubtful local power companies in Eastern Carolina will get the call to help with power outages in Texas after Hurricane Rita makes landfall. Greenville Utilities officials say some of their crews helped out in Florida last year, but were not called to assist in the Gulf Coast region after Hurricane Katrina. The power company says due to the distance between Texas, and Eastern Carolina, it's unlikely they'll be pressed into service in Texas either. However, they say if they are called to help, they will certainly go if they can.
