Medical Team Heads to the Gulf Coast

A team of medical specialists from the University Health Systems of Eastern North Carolina and the Brody School of Medicine will head to one hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast city to help survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The 27-member team will be led by Doctor John Meredith, medical director of emergency preparedness for Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Friday morning they will leave for Waveland, Mississippi for one week to help as many patients they can who still need treatment. The team is comprised of several medical experts from hospitals all across Eastern North Carolina.
