When temperatures climb into the high 90s and 100s like they did Tuesday, hospitals typically see an increase in heat-related illnesses. Our calls to area hospitals Tuesday netted few such cases. Craven County had one; that makes five there since Friday. Edgecombe County saw two heat related cases as did Wayne County. As of late afternoon, hospitals in Beaufort, Carteret, Lenoir, Martin, Pitt, and several other counties had reported no cases.
