Watching the Power

Video will be available shortly.

When the temperature goes up so does the load of electric power on the utility lines. All over town in Greenville utility maintenance crews are making sure power lines can accommodate the additional current flowing through them. Workers say they can't do much to prevent the power from failing except to get the word out about households and businesses conserving electricity. Tuesday's temperatures also have another effect on the power lines. The heat can cause them to sag a little more than they normally do. So far, Greenville Utility Company officials say power to customers hasn't been affected too much by the heat.
