It's being called a brutal and senseless murder. An elderly Elizabeth City woman found dead in her home Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday, a suspect was caught. Following a brief foot chase Wednesday morning, Elizabeth City police arrested 51 year old Donald Lowry of Camden, North Carolina. They say he ran as officers spotted him trying to get into 75 year old Carolyn Dawson's vehicle, which they say was stolen after she was killed. Police say Lowry has an extensive arrest record in several counties on drug, theft and assault charges.
