Every two minutes a woman is raped somewhere across the country, according to the United States Department of Justice. Statistics show 220,000 females alone were raped at the college or university they were attending in 2003. To get the message of safety across, colleges like East Carolina University are hosting their annual sexual assault awareness week. Students can take part in open discussions, self defense classes, and other programs to help prevent these types of crime both on and off campus.
