It was another night of wicked weather across Eastern Carolina Friday night. When it was over several communities were affected. One of the hardest hit was Kinston. Several inches of rain in a short period of time resulted in many flooded streets in and around the downtown area. There were numerous flooded cars as people tried driving through the water covered roads. At Grainger Stadium, the dugouts were completely flooded with water. There were also numerous lightning strikes in Lenoir County. Many other locations were hit by lightning as well. There were several reports of lightning strikes and fires in Wayne County, including a church. And in Greenville a building behind a house on South Memorial caught fire after being hit by lightning.
