The Barcode Fire Caused By Lightning

Print

Even with the Hurricane Ophelia gone, we still had major storms Saturday night, and the severe storms and lightning we had in Eastern Carolina did leave its mark, on one well known bar in Greenville.

According to fire officials, the Greenville Fire Department got the call around four o'clock Sunday morning that The Barcode, a bar and club located off of Dickinson Avenue and Memorial Drive, caught fire. Officials with The Barcode said that the cause of the fire was a lightning strike that hit a utility pole and followed the electrical lines inside the club. There was extensive damage inside the bar, and it's unclear if the owners will rebuild.
