One of Eastern Carolina's last big textile companies, National Spinning, is once again cutting jobs affecting two area counties. National Spinning is laying off 130 workers, as it closes its Warsaw yarn plant in Duplin County. Some workers will be moved to National's other location, across the county in Beulaville. But the cuts and changes will include some administrative and management workers at the company's Washington headquarters in Beaufort County too. However, most of the changes will happen at two Duplin County locations. The closing of the Warsaw plant later this year will move some workers to National's Beulaville yarn plant. Company president Jim Chesnutt declined an on camera interview, but says the Caron International division in Washington will not experience any layoffs. National Spinning once employed nearly 1400 workers across Eastern Carolina.
