Anti-Methamphetamine Bill

North Carolina lawmakers are praising a bill that would create one of the nation's strictest laws governing the sale of cold medicines. The measure affects drugs that are used to make methamphetamine. A House committee gave its blessing to the bill, which would require that medicines such as Sudafed must be kept behind the counter. The House measure adds more teeth to a bill passed by the state Senate, including video surveillance of sales areas for cold medicines that have ingredients used in meth, It also outlines civil penalties for retail violators and more restrictions on where the products are kept at stores.
