Emergency Response Team Swings Into Action

An incident early Monday morning caused police to close off a section of Charles Boulevard and kept residents of an apartment complex locked in for several hours. Police were called out to the Stratford Arms Apartments on in response to a suicidal person. The Greenville Police Department Emergency Response Team was activated when no one answered the door to the apartment involved. The response team did detain the person inside the apartment and that person is receiving a medical evaluation at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. A family member signed an involuntary commitment, petitioning the magistrate for the person to receive psychiatric evaluation.
