Violence exploded along the quiet streets of Weldon in Halifax County Saturday afternoon. Now Sunday, one man is dead and a man hunt is on for his suspected murder.
Halifax County detectives tell WITN 22 year old Travis Williams will be charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and going armed to the terror of the public.
Authorities say the charges stem from a dispute over almost 30 bags of marijuana that were found at the scene of a drug deal turned deadly around 3 Saturday afternoon.
It happened at the corner of Sycamore 11th Street commonly know as "The Strip" in South Weldon where lawmen say Williams shot and killed 33 year old Charles Gregory Mitchum, and wounded 22 year old Cedric Mills after firing several rounds of ammunition at the two. Lawmen say Williams has been on the run ever since and they need your help in locating his whereabouts.
