Doctors Advise Too Much Sun Can Be Bad

With heat indicies surpassing 105 degrees Sunday, medical facilities across the east are seeing more traffic of people overexposed to the high temperatures.

The great outdoors may be inviting, but medical professionals say the combination of heat and humidity can be a person's worst enemy. With the human body's' make-up being mostly water, the boiling temperatures can do severe damage to your organs and in some cases kill you. One doctor at the Beaufort County Hospital in Washington tells us the majority of people that end up in hospital beds due to heat exhaustion may surprise you. The elderly, who feel thirst differently, and surprisingly, athletes, who often work out outdoors are the two groups doctors see most at the hospital.

Medical workers at the Beaufort County Hospital say you should limit your exposure to the sun during the peak hours of the day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
